No drug arrests for a week? Kelantan police chief says two station heads get reprimand letters

Kota Bharu, September 22 — Two police station chiefs in Kelantan have received reprimand letters for failing to record any drug-related arrests over a week, according to state police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat. The Kelantan police headquarters is currently monitoring seven police stations for their efforts against drug abuse and trafficking.

"If a particular station has no arrests for a week, I will ensure a team from the Contingent Police Headquarters goes to the area," said Mohd Yusoff during a press conference after the Kelantan contingent police monthly assembly. The performance of each police station is reviewed weekly and discussed at meetings with the head of the Narcotics Department.

OCSs who receive reprimand letters must ensure their performance meets key performance indicators in the following week. Mohd Yusoff also mentioned that a post-mortem would be conducted on October 15 after a three-month pilot period to determine the reasons behind certain police stations' inability to meet the established key performance indicators.
