No drug arrests for a week? Kelantan police chief says two station heads get reprimand letters

Kota Bharu, September 22 — Kelantan's police chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, revealed that two Station Heads (OCSs) have been reprimanded for failing to record any drug-related arrests over a week. The state police chief emphasized that the incident might provoke further disciplinary action if the performance does not improve. He informed that the state police headquarters is keeping a close eye on seven police stations for their efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking.

Mohd Yusoff stated that should a particular station go without arrests for a week, he would arrange for a team from the Contingent Police Headquarters to investigate the area. He added that the special task force from the IPK (Internal Security Department) would be involved if they manage to make an arrest. Upon successful arrest, the respective OCS will receive a reprimand.

The Kelantan police chief mentioned that each police station's performance is assessed weekly and discussed during meetings with the head of the Narcotics Department. If an OCS receives a reprimand letter, they must meet the key performance indicators in the following week. Mohd Yusoff promised a post-mortem investigation on October 15, following a three-month pilot period, to identify reasons behind police stations failing to meet the stipulated key performance indicators.
