Miami Dolphins' Chop Robinson on schedule in concussion protocol

In Miami Gardens, Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley suggested lineup adjustments could be considered due to the team's 0-2 start. This may not indicate a change at right tackle, where Austin Jackson has faced criticism after a 35-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The next few days will be crucial in determining if receivers Caleb Douglas, running back Jaylen Wright and edge rusher Chop Robinson are available for the September 27 home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Robinson, who missed the 49ers game with his third concussion of the year, is currently in concussion protocol. Hafley stated, "He’s exactly where we thought he’d be right now," and will assess his condition Wednesday. Doubts remain about whether Jackson’s ankle injury sustained in the fourth quarter will sideline him against the Chiefs.

Jaylen Wright's status is unclear, with the possibility of being day-to-day. While the team has only scored 26 points this season while allowing 62, a net differential of minus-36 that would rank worst in the league if not for Atlanta’s minus-38, Hafley acknowledged that discussions about lineup changes have taken place among coaches.

Regarding Austin Jackson, Hafley emphasized the importance of his performance against top-tier players like Maxx Crosby and Nick Bosa, acknowledging that both successful and challenging moments occur. Punter Bradley Pinion's mishap during a punt, resulting in the opposing team scoring a quick touchdown, did not seem to be a recurring issue, according to Hafley.

The team also added defensive end/linebacker Andre Jones Jr. off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, who played under former Dolphins special teams coordinator Chris Tabor in Buffalo. Jones, a seventh-round pick by the Washington Commanders in 2023 out of Louisiana, is 6-feet-5 and 258 pounds. Rookie cornerback Chris Johnson was fined $17,911 for a hip-drop tackle in the opener against the Raiders. Additionally, inside linebacker Liam Anderson was waived.
