Mbappe continues media push for Ballon d’Or recognition

Kylian Mbappe, the France and Real Madrid forward, is continuing his media campaign to secure the prestigious Ballon d'Or award. The 27-year-old Frenchman, who topped the charts with 25 goals in La Liga, 15 in the Champions League and another 10 in the World Cup, expressed confidence in his chances of winning the highly esteemed accolade.

However, Mbappe's optimism is tempered by the fact that both France and Real Madrid faltered in international and domestic competitions last season, failing to advance past the semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively. Despite his club and country's lackluster showing, Mbappe remains confident, stating that his ability to shine individually and produce memorable moments sets him apart when it comes to awards like the Ballon d'Or.

The former Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain player highlighted that his 22-goal haul in the World Cup, coupled with his top-scoring performances in the Champions League and La Liga, make him a strong contender for the prestigious prize. Still, Mbappe acknowledges that he will face stiff competition, with other top performers like Spanish players Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Ousamne Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Harry Kane, all of whom have experienced success with their club or country in 2026. The Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on October 26.
