Mahershala Ali Agrees That Kevin Feige Is a 'Gigantic Loser and Failure' Over Failed Blade Reboot

Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali wholeheartedly agreed with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige's self-description as a "gigantic loser and failure" for the failed Blade reboot. Feige made the remark on a July podcast, contrasting his excitement for Wesley Snipes' return to the role in Deadpool & Wolverine with the canceled Blade film.

Ali admitted the same sentiment in a September 22 GQ interview with Zach Baron. "That's a Kevin Feige question," Ali responded when asked about the project's cancellation. "They had a two-time Oscar-winning actor under contract and billions of dollars, but I don't know why it didn't happen. Kevin said it was the biggest failure of his career, and I agree."

Ali's brutal honesty has gone viral, sharing his year of physical training for the role, which left him with a knee injury. The actor had been under contract with Marvel since 2019, waiting for the film to move forward despite it being pushed back multiple times. Some of the costumes and combat skills he trained for were later used in Sinners and Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.

With Ali no longer attached to the project and its stigma, it's looking increasingly unlikely we'll see Blade return to the big screen anytime soon.
