Magnitude 4.4 earthquake detected off Batu Pahat, tremors felt onshore

Batu Pahat residents are urging the local authority to resume efforts to catch stray dogs following a recent attack that left a two-year-old girl seriously injured. The incident occurred on September 5 in Kampung Tambak, Sungai Kelambu, Peserai. A resident, Isma Diyah, recounted how about 10 stray dogs chased her in Parit Raja, leaving her terrified. The dogs, which are ownerless and appear in packs, also chase other vehicles passing through the town.

Restaurant worker Nuru Faizah Nordin, 23, reported that packs of stray dogs visit her establishment almost daily, disturbing customers. She emphasized that the issue persists despite previous operations by the local authority to catch the animals. According to her, at least 20 stray dogs roam around and sleep in various locations near her workplace.

The local authority's efforts to address the stray dog problem appear to have been insufficient, as stray dogs were still spotted in several areas, including Taman Evergreen Heights, Sri Gading, and Parit Raja.
