King of Thailand’s estranged son seeks return for urgent brain surgery

Dr Chakriwat, son of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, is seeking urgent brain surgery in Thailand after discovering two large brain tumors. In a recent video, Dr Chakriwat, a physician in his 40s, stated that Thai doctors have the necessary expertise to treat his condition. He revealed that he lacks sufficient funds for surgery in Malaysia or the United States and fears his health will deteriorate without timely treatment.

Upon revealing his health crisis on September 18, Dr Chakriwat expressed that his condition was grave, with several neurologists warning him of potential bedriddenness or death if treatment was delayed. His brothers had previously expressed concern over his well-being and offered assistance if he responded. Dr Chakriwat has lived with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2-related schwannomatosis), a rare genetic condition causing non-cancerous tumors along nerves and inside the brain or spinal cord, since his teenage years.

He has undergone ten open surgeries and additional treatments like Gamma Knife and CyberKnife. Despite his previous public disclosures about his health and medical education efforts, no hospital or doctor has officially confirmed the latest diagnosis, surgical plan, or timeline. Dr Chakriwat has cautioned against crowdfunding efforts, urging supporters to verify donations through his official social media accounts.
