Investment Minister stresses boosting exports, production

Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, emphasized the significance of supporting existing investments and leveraging production capacities to boost output, enhance local manufacturing, and generate employment opportunities. Farid also stressed the importance of increasing exports by existing companies and opening new markets for Egyptian products, reaffirming the government's dedication to facilitating investors' operations, coordinating with relevant authorities to tackle challenges, and providing assistance with export procedures and access to foreign markets.

The remarks were made on Monday, September 21, 2026, during a tour led by Farid, alongside Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, Sharqia Governor Hazem al-Ashmouni, and the French Ambassador to Egypt, Eric Chevallier. The tour encompassed visits to two factories producing prestressed concrete and cosmetics situated in the industrial zone of 10th of Ramadan City.

Hashem underscored the pivotal role of the building materials sector, which serves as a major contributor to the national economy due to its extensive industrial base, diverse activities, and product range. This sector helps satisfy domestic market demands and supports construction and development projects, while also offering a substantial potential for expanding exports and establishing new markets for Egyptian products.

Hashem pointed out that the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries represent promising sectors, with significant opportunities to enhance Egypt's exports to regional markets.
