Henry Pollock signs Northampton Saints contract extension to end speculation over future

Henry Pollock, the 21-year-old England international, has extended his contract with Northampton Saints for several years. The move aims to resolve speculation surrounding his future, as he was set to leave the Prem champions next summer. His agent, Eddie Hearn, had publicly demanded a substantial salary increase from the club. Pollock, who joined the club through Matchroom agency earlier this year, acknowledged being a "seven-figure player" and worth £1m per year.

Despite the undisclosed details of the agreement, it is reported to be worth around £450,000 annually. Pollock expressed his happiness in re-signing with his boyhood club, noting that the team is in a great position and there's significant room for growth. He emphasized his youth and the presence of a talented squad, stating that his best friends are also teammates.

Pollock started his Northampton career as a 17-year-old schoolboy in 2022. However, he maintained that he was open to all opportunities, potentially considering playing abroad in the future. Recently, fellow England internationals Tommy Freeman, Fin Smith, and Alex Mitchell also signed multi-year contract extensions with Northampton.

Pollock set his sights on challenging the Champions Cup this season and defending the Premiership title, which the team won last year, but narrowly missed out on the Champions Cup the previous couple of years. Northampton's director of rugby, Phil Dowson, praised Pollock as an important figure not just for Saints but for rugby as a whole.

He highlighted Pollock's ability to inspire young supporters and drive excitement to rugby, as well as understanding that the off-pitch aspects are built on consistent on-pitch performance. Dowson expressed excitement about Pollock's potential achievements in the coming years.
