GOVY AirCab Makes Pakistan Debut

The GOVY AirCab, an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for urban short-distance travel, made its debut in Pakistan at the PAPS 2026 event. GOVY, a low-altitude mobility arm developed by the GAC Group, displayed the two-seat autonomous aircraft as a technology showcase. The AirCab boasts a sensing system capable of detecting objects from over 300 meters away, and its critical flight systems have built-in redundancy to ensure safety.

Official specifications indicate that the AirCab has a range of 20-30 km, a flight speed of 120 km/h, and a seating capacity of two passengers. Charging time is reported to be approximately 15 minutes for a 50-100% charge, and one-minute fast charging is available. During the event, a GOVY representative highlighted the aircraft's sensor-based safety system, which scans the landing area and surroundings before landing.

While GOVY has already conducted demonstration flights and moved the AirCab into production-line development, the aircraft is still awaiting airworthiness certification. The representative also noted that GOVY is exploring solid-state batteries for the future, which could offer higher energy density and lower weight than current lithium-ion batteries.

In Pakistan, the AirCab could potentially serve several use cases, including short aerial routes in cities like Karachi and Lahore, tourism in northern areas, and emergency medical transport. However, significant infrastructure and regulatory challenges must be addressed before the aircraft could operate commercially in the country. For now, the GOVY AirCab displayed at PAPS 2026 serves as a preview of future mobility rather than a commercially available vehicle in Pakistan.
