Ghana TVET Service, UNESCO, KPMG and Microsoft Sign MoU to Train 100,000 Facilitators

The Ghana TVET Service, UNESCO, KPMG, and Microsoft have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the AI EmpowerED initiative to train 100,000 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) facilitators in artificial intelligence and digital competencies. This partnership aims to accelerate the integration of AI and digital innovation across Ghana's TVET system, ensuring graduates possess future-ready skills.

The initiative seeks to strengthen training environments, expand access to underserved communities, and address the demands of a labor market reshaped by automation and intelligent systems. Artificial intelligence has become prevalent in both workplaces and classrooms, necessitating informed facilitators as the first line of defense against unethical AI use.

The agreement will establish a national framework to enhance the TVET ecosystem's capacity to deliver future-ready skills, improve training quality, relevance, and reach. The Ghana TVET Service will lead national implementation, while UNESCO provides policy leadership and technical oversight, KPMG supports program design and systems strengthening, and Microsoft contributes digital infrastructure and AI-powered solutions.

Dr. Eric Kofi Adzroe, Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative in aligning education with industry and preparing graduates for the global economy. Abdul Fatah Maigah Mahama, Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, highlighted the need to equip facilitators with AI integrity, responsible use, and bias mitigation skills to ensure ethical technology integration in classrooms and graduate production.
