EPL: Why I snubbed move to Liverpool – Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe, the Real Madrid forward, revealed that he came close to signing for Liverpool. Throughout 2017, multiple top European clubs vied for his signature, with the Reds showing particular interest. Manager Jurgen Klopp arranged a meeting between the player's mother and the club. The mother, enamored with Liverpool’s Premier League stature, accompanied the player to watch matches in the UK and eventually fell in love with the club herself.

Mbappe, however, opted to sign for Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan deal, which became a permanent move after a year. When asked about his decision, Mbappe cited his desire to play in Paris and establish himself before leaving his home country. Despite his mother's enthusiasm for Liverpool—an admiration fueled by Klopp's reputation as a manager and the club's welcoming atmosphere—Mbappe ultimately chose PSG.
