Velofix employs 96 certified technicians, or bike mechanics, who work from fully equipped vans to bring the repair shop to customers’ front doors. Kevin Lenau, Backcountry’s president, explained that a customer in Boulder or Boston can order a bike from the company and have a Velofix technician build, tune, and deliver it ready to ride.
The acquisition finalized on September 17, with financial terms undisclosed. This follows a series of acquisitions since CSC Generation purchased Backcountry in September 2024, including Utah-based Level Nine Sports in July 2025 and Velotech, the parent company of BikeTiresDirect, Western Bikeworks, and TriSports, later that year.
Backcountry already owns Competitive Cyclist in its portfolio, assembling a diverse collection of cycling businesses.
