Coral shrimp spotted during marine biodiversity survey

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has discovered the coral shrimp, a species of the Pliopontonia genus, during a marine biodiversity survey in Qatar. This discovery was made by the department's scientific marine team as part of ongoing efforts to study and document the country's marine environment. The coral shrimp is uniquely adapted to its habitat within brain coral, utilizing its coloration and external features to blend in with its surroundings and avoid detection.
