Brazil Journal reúne especialistas em NYC para discutir clima e competitividade

NYC — As nations race to shift towards a low-carbon economy, companies, investors and governments acknowledge the challenges. Amid Climate Week NYC, the private sector is discussing how to turn carbon reduction demands into business and investment opportunities without sacrificing economic growth. Brazil Journal is hosting a gathering today to dissect the main obstacles and prospects of this emerging economy, featuring government officials, finance market players and major corporations in discussions about public policies, climate financing and energy transition.

Opening remarks were delivered by João Paulo Capobianco, Brazil's Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, and Mário Gouvêa of the National Treasury, who examined the government's role and financial instruments — such as those employed by the Eco Invest program — in the transition agenda. Later, Sergio Suchodolski, CEO of Fama Re.Capital, and Lina Lisbona, managing director and partner at Vox Capital, delved into the challenges of climate financing and how to mobilize private capital for climate-related projects.

The third panel will address decarbonization without compromising competitiveness, with Grazielle Parenti, Vale's Sustainability Vice President; Paulo Skaf Filho, CEO of ComBio; and Roberto Waack, president of MBRF's sustainability committee participating. The day concludes with a lecture by Ana Toni, CEO of COP30, on Brazil's upcoming steps in the international climate agenda and at COP31, taking place in Turkey in November.
