Because Of The 20-Kilometer “Kill Zone,” Russian Tanks Have Been Pushed To The Sidelines — Trehubov

Because of a 20-kilometer "kill zone" along the front lines, Russian heavy equipment has been largely sidelined in their assaults, according to Viktor Trehubov, a spokesman for the United Forces Grouping. Trehubov stated this on TV, with his remarks relayed by UATV English. Heavy equipment exists for the Russians, but its usage is minimal, as the kill zone presents a significant challenge.

It's a rare event to see a tank damaged during an attack, and often, it's likely to be damaged in the rear during a mid-strike. The kill zone, starting at 20 kilometers, is so extensive that it cannot be effectively protected against by improvised armor cages, known as "mangals," even from fiber-optic drones. Consequently, Russian tanks have quietly been pushed to the sidelines, unable to advance with heavy equipment in their current conditions.

Trehubov explained that if multiple drones are hunting tanks within the kill zone, they need a massive escort to advance. The operation planning must also be meticulous, and the weather must be favorable, as drones struggle to fly in certain conditions. In a hypothetical scenario of a storm with a tornado, Russian heavy equipment might see more use.

Earlier reports have detailed that in June, fighters from Ukraine's specialized unmanned aerial systems unit, Lasar's Group, in conjunction with artillery from neighboring units, destroyed 18 Russian tanks in a single operation.
