4,300 Punjab Schools Face 2-Month Payment Delay

Around 4,300 schools managed by the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) are grappling with a financial crisis as July and August payments are still outstanding. This delay has impacted approximately 20,000 teachers and school managers, who are finding it challenging to cope with their own financial burdens as they wait for the overdue funds.

School proprietors revealed that the enduring payment lag complicates their ability to meet regular expenses and has also strained the personal finances of educators and other personnel. Approximately 600,000 pupils are currently enrolled in the affected establishments under PEIMA's purview. In response to these worries, PEIMA representatives indicated that payments to licensee schools are being disbursed in stages and expressed confidence that the remaining overdue amounts will be settled promptly.
