[Asian Games] S. Korea hammers Hong Kong for 2nd straight win in baseball

NAGOYA — In a resounding victory on Tuesday, South Korea dominated Hong Kong with a perfect game as they secured their second consecutive Group B win at Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium in Toyohashi, located approximately 85 kilometers southeast of Nagoya. South Korean pitchers, led by starter Choi Min-seok and supported by five others, combined for a perfect game and struck out 12 batters, ultimately securing a 13-0 victory after seven innings due to the mercy rule.

Cho Hyeong-woo delivered a grand slam, while Roh Si-hwan added a two-run home run to South Korea's impressive tally. The Korean baseball team, composed of stars from the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), aims to achieve its fifth consecutive baseball gold medal. Their winning streak began with a 5-0 win over Chinese Taipei on Monday.

South Korea will face Thailand in their next match on Wednesday. The top two teams from each of the two groups will advance to the Super Round, and the two best teams in the Super Round will compete for the gold medal on Saturday at Toyohashi. Roh Si-hwan opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, and South Korea scored in each of the first three frames, with Cho Hyeong-woo hitting a grand slam in the third inning.
