Ahafo Ano South West DCE was tipped to win parliamentary for NDC seat in 2028 – Ashanti Region NDC Chairman

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Nana Akwasi, expressed deep sorrow following the death of Ahafo Ano South West District Chief Executive, Abubakar Sedik. Nana Akwasi noted that the late DCE had made a lasting impact on the residents of the district through his exceptional performance during his brief tenure as DCE.

He described Sedik as a committed party member and an effective leader who had contributed significantly to the NDC beyond his position as DCE. Nana Akwasi lamented that the death of Sedik had abruptly ended what he called a promising political career, as the young politician had shown great potential for the 2028 parliamentary elections for the NDC.

The massive crowd that gathered for Sedik's funeral demonstrated the high regard in which he was held by the people of Ahafo Ano South West. Nana Akwasi acknowledged that the NDC would struggle to replace Sedik's unique qualities and contributions to the party. Before becoming DCE, Sedik had served two terms as the constituency chairman for Ahafo Ano South West, where he was known for resolving party challenges effectively before they escalated.

At the final rites, a large number of MMDCEs, NDC supporters, traditional leaders, and sympathizers gathered to pay their respects to the late DCE. The Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, also mourned the loss, emphasizing Sedik's promising future in politics. The community mourned the loss of a district leader whose short tenure had already left a significant impact on the district, and the NDC mourned the loss of a young political figure whose ambitions had been cut short by death.
