Zaheer Khan appointed Chennai Super Kings head coach on Dhoni’s recommendation

Chennai Super Kings have appointed ex-India pacer Zaheer Khan as their head coach, following the departure of Stephen Fleming. The 47-year-old, who previously coached Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, has been given a one-year contract with a possibility of extension. CSK owner Rupa Gurunath expressed excitement about Zaheer's appointment, highlighting his distinguished playing career and talent for nurturing young players.

Zaheer himself praised CSK, stating it was an honor to join a successful team with a rich history. After Fleming stepped down, the franchise sought an Indian coach and consulted several candidates. MS Dhoni recommended Zaheer, and the management team agreed he was the right fit. Zaheer, a left-arm pacer with a World Cup-winning record, has no ties to other international leagues and is expected to select his own support staff.
