Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson to step down, Klaus Zellmer named successor

Volvo Cars has appointed Klaus Zellmer as the future president and CEO of the Swedish automotive company, with a start date of October 1, 2027. The company's board announced the appointment on Sunday, with Volvo Cars stating that Zellmer will take over the position within a year. Zellmer, currently the CEO of Skoda Auto, will succeed Hakan Samuelsson, who will remain on the board to ensure a smooth transition.

According to Geely Holding Group President Eric Li, Zellmer possesses deep knowledge of the automotive industry, extensive international leadership experience, and a strong track record of guiding organizations through transformation and changing market conditions. Zellmer expressed his excitement about joining Volvo Cars during this critical stage of the company's growth, praising the brand's reputation for safety and its timeless yet contemporary design language.

The German executive highlighted Volvo Cars' solid foundations and experienced team, expressing his enthusiasm for working with his colleagues to further develop these strengths.
