University of Doha for Science and Technology and Alfardan Exchange, launch “FinTech Stars” competition to support innovation and entrepreneurship among students

The University of Doha for Science and Technology has partnered with Alfardan Exchange to launch the "FinTech Stars" competition. This initiative aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical solutions in the fintech sector among students in Qatar. The competition aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy, and the FinTech Strategy 2024-2030, as well as the Qatar Financial Centre's vision to establish Doha as a global financial and commercial hub.

The competition, which begins in November 2026, targets Bachelor of Business Administration students in Banking and Financial Technology. Teams will have two months to develop fintech projects reflecting current digital trends. Final projects are due on November 7, 2026, followed by presentations to a specialized evaluation committee on November 18, 2026.

The winning teams will receive prizes of QAR 50,000, QAR 30,000, and QAR 15,000, announced at the closing ceremony on November 25, 2026. Dr. Vincent Mangematin, Dean of the University's College of Business, emphasized the importance of applied learning and preparing students for the evolving financial technology sector. Mr. Bashar Al Waqfi, CEO of Alfardan Exchange, expressed pride in the partnership and the initiative's role in empowering innovative talent in Qatar's digital financial landscape.

The competition is expected to enhance students' practical skills, foster innovative ideas, and solidify Qatar's position as a leading fintech hub in the region.
