Tyler Shough "loved" Anthony Weaver calling him a "poor man's Josh Allen"

Ravens defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver inadvertently coined a nickname for Saints quarterback Tyler Shough last week. Weaver called Shough a "poor man's Josh Allen," intending it as a compliment. However, Saints coaches adopted the term "Poor Man" for Shough for the remainder of the week. Shough expressed his enthusiasm for the nickname, stating, "I loved it.

I knew what [Weaver] meant by it, but yeah, obviously [Allen] is an elite player, but it fires me up." Shough's impressive performance against the Dolphins in last season's Saints 21-17 loss, where he threw for two touchdowns, caught Weaver's attention. He demonstrated his versatility by running for a touchdown and passing for another in Sunday's 24-17 victory over the Ravens, sealing the game with a quarterback sneak with just 1:28 left on the clock.

Shough's ability to excel in both passing and rushing has earned him a reputation in his league, with wide receiver Chris Olave predicting that he will be among the top quarterbacks by the end of the year. Allen currently holds the league record with 11 fourth-quarter passing and rushing touchdowns during the same period.
