Swedish man dies after unexplained injuries at Phuket hotel

A Swedish man passed away in a hospital following the discovery of unexplained bruises and injuries at a hotel in Bang Tao, Phuket. The incident occurred on September 17 when hotel staff found the 63-year-old individual lying face-down at the Cherng Talay property. The man was conscious and able to speak, although staff observed bruising on his body. He was offered medical treatment but declined, and did not specify how the injuries had occurred.

On the following day at approximately 10:35 AM, a housekeeper discovered the man lying face-down again, this time near a bathroom. His condition had worsened, and he was reportedly experiencing convulsions, leading hotel staff to urgently call for medical assistance. The man was transported to Thalang Hospital, where his condition continued to decline. He succumbed to his injuries at around 9:44 PM on September 18.

Upon arrival at the hospital, police and medical staff performed an initial examination, uncovering wounds and bruises on the man's body. However, the cause of death remained undetermined at the time. His remains were subsequently transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination.

Cherng Talay Police are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the man's death, including his movements and state of health in the days preceding his hospitalization. It is worth noting that police have not ascertained whether foul play is suspected. They are also coordinating with the Swedish Embassy and immigration officials as the investigation progresses.
