Socso confirms Ipoh crash victims’ families entitled to pensions and funeral aid exceeding RM275,000

IPOH, Sept 21 — The relatives of two individuals who lost their lives in a road accident on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang, Malaysia on Saturday are entitled to substantial benefits from the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) under its Lindung 24 Jam Scheme for Non-Occupational Accidents, the organization confirmed today. The victims, identified as 19-year-old Muhammad Izdihar Rafiq Sarajil Korin and 19-year-old Muhamad Faiz Danial Jumri, had both been contributing to Perkeso's pension scheme.

Despite the accident taking place outside of working hours, the next of kin, including their parents and siblings, are still protected under the scheme.

According to Perkeso, the next of kin of Muhammad Izdihar are set to receive Dependents' Benefit payments of RM945, distributed among the beneficiaries according to their respective shares. His parents will receive the payments for life, while his three siblings will receive them until they reach the age of 21 or complete a degree.

Muhamad Faiz, on the other hand, will be entitled to Dependants' Benefit payments of RM891, which will be paid to his parents for life, and to one sibling until that person also turns 21 or completes a degree.

In addition to these periodic pension payments, the next of kin of both victims are also eligible for a Funeral Management Benefit of RM3,000 each, paid as a one-off sum. Taken together, the total periodic pension payments to the victims' next of kin over a period of 15 years could amount to more than RM275,000. The accident, which occurred around 3.35am on September 19, claimed the lives of three male motorcyclists aged between 19 and 20 at the scene, while nine other male motorcyclists aged between 19 and 25 were injured.
