Sentul police chief, prisons officers at Najib's residence for house arrest preparations

KUALA LUMPUR: Assistant Commissioner Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam of the Sentul police force and officers from the Prisons Department arrived at the residence of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in Jalan Langgak Duta today, as preparations were being made for his conditional house arrest. A meeting between the police and Prisons Department officials took place this afternoon to discuss the necessary procedures and security measures for Najib's house arrest.

Several government vehicles were observed entering the residence's grounds around 2pm. Anuar Bakri arrived at 2:20pm, followed by Prisons Department personnel at 3:15pm. As of 3:30pm, the meeting was still in progress.

Anuar Bakri confirmed his presence at the residence when contacted. Earlier reports indicated that Najib must settle a RM50 million fine before serving the remainder of his prison sentence under conditional house arrest. However, the payment had not yet been made, with Datuk Seri Najib's family yet to fulfill the obligation. The Attorney-General, Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, stated that the payment needed to be made at the Kuala Lumpur High Court registry, as the case originated and was heard there.

It was unclear when the fine would be paid, and thus when Najib might be released from house arrest. Datuk Seri Najib's family has not yet paid the fine.
