Selangor expands Kita Selangor Voucher eligibility, households earning RM8,000 or below now qualify

Selangor has broadened the criteria for the Kita Selangor Voucher (BKS) to encompass households earning RM8,000 or below in their monthly income, as announced by State Women’s Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari on September 21. This revised eligibility threshold is part of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package, aimed at supporting citizens grappling with the escalating cost of living and economic instability stemming from global supply chain disruptions.

Initially, the BKS program primarily targeted vulnerable demographics, including single mothers and heads of households residing below the poverty line. However, the state government has now broadened eligibility to include families earning up to RM8,000 per month. To apply, individuals must submit their requests via the SELangkah app.

Eligibility requirements stipulate that applicants must be Malaysian citizens and registered voters residing in Selangor. For married couples or single parents, at least one child under the age of 18 must reside in the household, with a combined income not exceeding RM8,000. Only one beneficiary is permitted per household, and applicants must not concurrently receive the Selangor Prosperous Living Aid (BINGKAS) programme.
