Rauf calls for patience as PH, PN press for alliance talks

Melaka Barisan Nasional chief Ab Rauf Yusoh has advised potential election partners to exercise patience as Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional leaders push for discussions regarding an alliance with the coalition. Rauf cautioned against engaging in such conversations on social media, warning that it could tarnish the image of the parties involved.

The Melaka BN chief clarified that there's no necessity for negotiations to take place via social media. Instead, he stated that official letters will be issued to all parties, inviting them to submit proposals on how they could form the most strategic partnership with BN. These proposals will subsequently be presented at various levels for a final decision.

Rauf emphasized that BN remains open to talks with all parties concerning a Melaka election agreement. However, he did not dismiss or fully accept the idea, leaving room for negotiations to unfold.

Meanwhile, PH election director Amirudin Shari had previously urged BN to disclose whether it is interested in an alliance for the Melaka state election. PKR vice-president Amirudin indicated that PH would not be opposed to a BN alliance if the coalition decided not to proceed; however, a decision should be made promptly so PH can plan accordingly.

Similarly, Melaka Wawasan chief Rahim Thamby Chik stated that PN would proceed independently in all 28 seats of Melaka if it was unable to reach an agreement with BN.
