PH should not give up on BN talks, says Rauf

Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh, the state BN chairman, has cautioned the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition not to abandon negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) in Melaka ahead of the state election. Rauf clarified that the door for talks will be opened in due course, but only after formal discussions conclude. The chief minister also advised party leaders to refrain from negotiating through social media as it could lead to differing perceptions among the public.

Rauf emphasized that while PH respects all parties interested in cooperation, any negotiations must be conducted through official channels and not via social media. The BN will issue formal letters to all parties to negotiate the best strategic partnership (in the Melaka election), which will then be presented to all levels for consideration before a decision is made.

Rauf, speaking after officiating the national-level National Environment Day celebration at Banda Hilir, stated that as of today, he greatly respects all parties interested in working with PH. However, he reiterated that these negotiations are subject to formal discussions that will take place later at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
