Sarawak Police Commissioner, Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, announced that police are actively investigating two incidents of suspected arson and suspected use of homemade incendiary devices at convenience stores in Kuching and Sri Aman yesterday. The police received two reports regarding the incidents. Initial investigations revealed that both incidents showed similar modus operandi when two male suspects in dark clothing and with weapons entered the premises, throwing objects believed to contain flammable or easily combustible materials into the stores.

The actions caused fires, property damage, and one instance of arson. No casualties or serious injuries were reported, according to the police. The investigation is being conducted under Section 436 of the Criminal Code. Police are diligently working on the case, including analyzing the materials used, examining closed-circuit camera footage, and tracing any connections between the two incidents.

In addition to the main accusation that the convenience store allegedly sold extra value betting services online, the investigation will also include actions such as requesting local authorities to revoke the business license if necessary, he said.
