Sarawak Police Chief, Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, revealed that police are actively investigating two suspicious incidents involving fires and objects believed to be hand grenades at various convenience stores across Kuching and Sri Aman yesterday. The police have received two reports regarding these incidents. Initial findings suggest that both incidents share a similar modus operandi, where two male suspects in dark clothing and armed with weapons entered the premises before throwing an object suspected to contain explosive or flammable material into the store, causing fires, property damage, and a blaze at one location.

No fatalities or serious injuries were reported, according to the report. The investigation is being conducted under Section 436 of the Penal Code. Police are actively pursuing leads, including analyzing the materials used, examining closed-circuit camera footage, and looking for any connection between the two incidents. Additionally, they are investigating claims that the convenience stores sell online gambling services and will take action, including requesting local authorities to revoke the business license, if found to be true.
