PM vows to make seamless preparations to launch Global AI Hub

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook pledged on Monday that the government would ensure smooth preparations for the nationwide Global AI Hub project. This includes choosing the most suitable location for the proposed hub through impartial and transparent methods. In May, South Korea announced its ambition to establish the Global AI Hub, aiming to unite artificial intelligence (AI) expertise from international entities to tackle issues like disease management and climate change.

The proposed hub intends to foster international collaboration in the AI domain, involving nine global organizations and five multilateral development banks. It is designed to serve as a platform for delivering AI-driven solutions to pressing problems under the "AI for All, AI to Solve Global Challenges" vision.

Han emphasized the need for prompt action beyond mere declarations during the inaugural meeting of the preparation committee. The government will diligently establish a dedicated support system and identify the most appropriate location for the Global AI Hub, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the process.
