Plateau govt imposes dusk-to-dawn curfew on three LGAs amid security concerns

The Plateau State Government has implemented a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu Local Government Areas due to escalating security concerns. This restriction, which commenced on Monday, September 21, 2026, bars movement between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The announcement was made by Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, in a statement on Monday.

The government's aim is to assist security forces in stabilizing the areas, safeguarding lives, and averting a breakdown of law and order. Residents are required to adhere to the restriction and adjust their commercial, agricultural, and other activities accordingly. Security forces have been tasked with enforcing the curfew throughout the affected regions.

Additionally, the use of motorcycles is banned in the three local government areas. The Plateau government assures the public that the personnel tasked with enforcing these measures will act professionally. This directive arises following reports of security incidents in specific parts of Plateau State, notably in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu.
