Pakistan launches deadly strikes on Afghanistan

PATAN, KUNAR, Afghanistan - Pakistani bombardment has claimed the lives of three civilians in eastern Afghanistan, according to the Taliban authorities, who announced the strikes on Monday. Islamabad claims it targeted terrorist hubs along the border with Pakistan. Journalists with AFP witnessed the aftermath of the attack in the village of Patan, where a house lay in ruins following the bombardment.

Among those affected was Mubin Khan, a farmer who sustained injuries during the strike. Khan recounted witnessing the destruction of his home and the loss of three family members in the attack. The Taliban's deputy spokesman, Hamdullah Fitrat, confirmed the assault, stating that the Nurgal district, including Patan, came under attack around 3:00 am (11:30 PM GMT on Sunday).

The strike left three individuals dead and four others injured. Additionally, two sites in Paktika province were reportedly targeted, but no casualties were reported. The Pakistani Information and Broadcasting Ministry verified the strikes, mentioning that forces had hit three locations in response to terrorist activity near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
