Packers piling up the penalties in first two weeks of the season

The Green Bay Packers are experiencing a penalty-heavy start to their 2025 season, with a record of 26 penalties for 231 yards over two games, the highest totals for any NFL team in either category heading into Monday night's game. Quarterback Jordan Love expressed concern over the issue, especially focusing on pre-snap alignment penalties.

Despite the penalties, the Packers managed to beat the New York Jets 20-17 in overtime on Sunday, as the Jets also committed 13 penalties for 156 yards. The Packers could have beaten the Minnesota Vikings if it weren't for three third-down penalties that turned potential punting situations into first downs. Head coach Matt LaFleur emphasized the need for improvement in this area, stating that those penalties "get you beat."

The Packers' defense is performing well, ranking second in the NFL with 3.9 yards allowed per play and allowing just 2.9 yards per rush. However, their struggles on third downs and the offensive line's injuries have been significant concerns.
