Nigerian Embassy in Qatar cuts passport processing to two weeks

The Nigerian Embassy in Qatar has shortened the time required to process passports for Nigerians living in the country from ten days to about two weeks. This change came after a 10-day intervention exercise conducted between August 11 and 21, 2026, during which the embassy processed passport applications for 751 Nigerian nationals.

These applications included 441 requests for five-year passports and 310 for ten-year passports. Distribution of the completed passports began on September 18, less than a month after the biometric capture phase ended, enabling applicants to receive their travel documents earlier than usual. Nigeria's Ambassador to Qatar, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, praised the development as a significant milestone in the mission's consular services, stating that the faster processing demonstrates the embassy's commitment to improving service delivery and responding to the needs of Nigerians in Qatar.
