Naidu urges farmers to shift to natural farming, focus on biodiversity conservation

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu addressed farmers in Kuppam Assembly Constituency on Monday, urging them to transition to natural farming methods and prioritize tree plantation and biodiversity conservation. During his speech at Kothapeta, Naidu emphasized that reducing chemical fertilizer usage would safeguard soil health and maintain ecological balance. He explained that biochar, derived from farm waste and tree residues, enhances fertility, water retention, and contributes to climate balance.

The Chief Minister highlighted that around 80 lakh acres in Andhra Pradesh are currently under natural farming, and the government aims to expand this practice further. He encouraged the use of modern sowing techniques to ensure germination through rain, maintain field greenery throughout the year, and prevent soil exposure to direct sunlight. Covering the soil between crops, he pointed out, reduces heat, stabilizes temperature, and sustains yield, while also providing green fodder for livestock.

Returning crop residues to the soil, Naidu stressed, rejuvenates the land's fertility. He called for a collective effort in this endeavor. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for two government offices, inaugurated a waste management facility, and performed a ceremonial act at a college project. He also introduced five 15 MW solar projects for agricultural feeders.

In the same meeting, the Chief Minister showcased three local youths as role models. Surekha from Pogurupalli secured a supervisor position at a locally established company after graduation, and she plans to pursue an MBA. Subrahmanyam is promoting agricultural product value addition through a local industrial venture, while Vignesh documents Kuppam's development through social media videos, earning around ₹1 lakh monthly.

The Chief Minister's remarks underscored that young people could forge self-employment through upskilling, entrepreneurship, and job creation. The government pledged to further bolster employment, industrial, and skill development opportunities.
