Mankranso DCE laid to rest as Muslims hold final Juma’ah prayers

A profound sense of loss has settled upon Mankranso, a town within the Ahafo Ano South West Municipality of the Ashanti Region, following the untimely demise of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abubakar Sedik. The DCE's final rites were held on Monday, September 21, after his passing on September 20 following a brief illness.

The Muslim community in Mankranso paid their respects to the late DCE at the Mankranso School Park, where they performed the final Juma'ah prayers and bid him a heartfelt farewell. A multitude of mourners, residents, sympathizers, friends, and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) attended the funeral, grappling with the sudden loss of a man who had dedicated his service to the District as Chief Executive.

The sudden passing of Abubakar Sedik has plunged the townsfolk and the broader Ahafo Ano South West Municipality into profound mourning. The local assembly confirmed that the DCE succumbed to his illness on the evening of September 20, after consultations with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, who was in attendance in Kumasi to discuss the progress of the Kejetia Phase Two Redevelopment project.

It was reported that Mr Sedik had fallen ill upon his return to Mankranso from the meeting but unfortunately could not survive the ailment. In the preceding week, the DCE's district had been under media scrutiny after allegations emerged that he had orchestrated the demolition of a school facility to make way for a 24-hour economy market.

However, Mr Sedik vehemently denied the accusations. In the 2024 election, Abubakar Sedik stood as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Mankranso constituency.
