Ahafo Ano South West DCE laid to rest as Muslims hold final prayers

The District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano South West District, Abubakar Sedik, has passed away, leaving the community in profound grief. Sedik's sudden death was announced on Monday, September 21, following his demise the previous day, September 20, after a brief illness. A deep sense of sorrow has settled over Mankranso, a town in Ashanti Region, Ghana, as the Muslim community came together at the Mankranso School Park to perform the final Salat al-Janazah prayers.

Dozens of mourners, including residents, sympathizers, friends, and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), arrived to bid farewell to the late DCE, their collective emotions weighed down by the sudden loss.

The news of Sedik's death has left a deep scar on the people of Mankranso and the wider Ahafo Ano South West District. According to the local assembly, the DCE succumbed to his ailment on Sunday evening, 20th September, after being summoned to meet with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, in Kumasi. Ayariga was en route to discuss the progress of the Kejetia Phase Two Redevelopment project.

It appears that the recent weeks have not been easy for Sedik. Just a week ago, he found himself embroiled in controversy after being accused of leading an attempt to demolish a school facility at Mankranso to make way for a 24-hour economy market. Sedik vehemently denied the allegation. Prior to his death, he served as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area during the 2024 election.
