Lindsay Clancy’s attorney asks judge to investigate the lone juror who wanted to convict her

Lawyers for Lindsay Clancy have sought a judge's investigation into the behavior of the sole juror who desired to convict Clancy, a mother from Massachusetts, of murder following the deaths of her three children. According to the motion filed by Clancy's legal team, the judge should examine the juror's alleged use of a cellphone during deliberations, his honesty on a pre-trial questionnaire, and his credibility during a pre-trial judge questioning.

The judge declared a mistrial on September 4 after the jury couldn't reach a unanimous verdict, despite 11 of the 12 jurors believing Clancy was suffering from rare postpartum psychosis at the time of the crime. Clancy's legal representative, Kevin Reddington, requested a record of any calls or texts Desronvil made during the jury's deliberations, given that cellphone use during deliberations is banned in Massachusetts.

Prosecutors have not yet decided if they will retry Clancy, who remains charged with murder and is currently hospitalized in a psychiatric facility until her case is resolved. The Plymouth County District Attorney's office declined to comment on the motions. Desronvil, however, denied any wrongdoing, stating to his lawyer Edward Paltzik that he "didn’t have any doubts" that Clancy knowingly killed her children.
