Lalbaugcha Raja: Minor Short Circuit At Mumbai's Busiest Pandal Sparks Panic Amid Ganeshotsav Rush; No Injuries Reported - VIDEO

Mumbai witnessed a minor electricity scare at the city's most popular Ganeshotsav pandal, Lalbaugcha Raja, on Sunday. A short circuit in a feeder pillar near the venue prompted a brief commotion among the throng of devotees. The incident was captured on video, showing sparks and what appears to be a small fire around the pandal's roof. Police and security personnel were seen working to contain the situation and guarantee the well-being of the attendees.

A civic official confirmed to PTI that the matter was swiftly resolved and there were no casualties. A feeder pillar, as described by the official, is an outdoor electrical distribution unit that houses elements like circuit breakers, fuses, and switches.

Regrettably, this event occurs in close proximity to another tragic electrocution incident in the same area on Saturday. Two people died - an eight-year-old girl and a woman - and four others were injured when an electric current caused a short circuit near a drinking water and cold drink stall erected near the entrance gate of the Mahaganpati Utsav Mandal in Kalachowki. Fire brigade personnel immediately cut off the power supply and secured the area out of caution.

The day prior to Ganesh Chaturthi, another unfortunate incident unfolded in Lalbaug. A two-wheeler caught fire, claiming the life of a 19-year-old worker who had entered a closed artificial pond meant for Ganesh idol immersion. It is worth noting that this area is now brimming with crowds during the Ganesh festival.
