Kanzler-Spekulationen: Wüst: „Ich möchte Ministerpräsident bleiben“

CDU Ministerpräsident Hendrik Wüst, frequently dubbed as a "reserve Chancellor," was unflinching in his decision to remain in his current role during a recent discussion with the "Rheinischen Post" in Düsseldorf. Asked, "Do you aspire to be Chancellor?" Wüst replied, "I intend to stay Ministerpräsident." However, when asked whether he would remain so "forever," Wüst responded with a cryptic "Soweit es geht," meaning "As far as it goes."

Wüst's green-right coalition government has been so engrossed in their work that he has been preoccupied with other matters, commenting that he simply lacks the time to strategize for an imminent election. The seasoned politician, who is a member of the CDU's largest state association, emphasized the positive impact his team can make, stating, "We can change things – for the better."

When discussing the allure of politics, Wüst revealed his lifelong passion for the field. "I've always enjoyed politics," he shared. "We can change things – for the better." As a former Transport Minister, Wüst acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Chancellor's position, motivating him to contribute positively to the state. He expressed gratitude for having like-minded individuals who understand the value of hard work and dedication, adding, "They could have more leisure time and higher earnings elsewhere."
