Japa: Nigeria’s image abroad far from reality – United Nigeria Airlines chair

Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, has expressed his reluctance to permanently relocate from Nigeria despite the increasing trend of Nigerians emigrating abroad. Speaking at a reception organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja for the upcoming World Public Relations Forum and 37th African Public Relations Association Conference in November, Okonkwo emphasized that Nigeria's image abroad does not match its reality.

As someone who has lived and studied overseas, he stated that he could hardly stay outside Nigeria for more than a week, asserting his intention to return frequently to feel comfortable. Okonkwo believes that Nigeria's image is vastly different from what it truly is, and he hopes that the global PR gathering will enable the country to showcase its true essence to thousands of international visitors.

He described the event as one of the most significant opportunities Nigeria has received in decades, capable of changing international perceptions.
