Janda Baik visitors advised to check with resorts after flash floods

Visitors to Janda Baik are urged to verify resort, chalet or homestay information before embarking on their journey following flash floods in Kampung Janda Baik, according to the Janda Baik Resort Association. Only four accommodations along Sungai Cherangin were impacted, while the rest of the resort facilities were unaffected. No guests were present at the resorts during the incident.

The water levels have since receded, and a thorough cleanup was conducted at the affected areas. A spokesperson also cautioned against disseminating unverified social media posts about the floods, emphasizing the importance of obtaining reliable information from the respective accommodations. The roads leading to Janda Baik remain operational.

The flash floods transpired when the river overflowed its banks due to intense rainfall, causing swift and murky waters to inundate resort properties. Approximately 105 individuals from 34 households in the area were evacuated to a local school following the inundation. Nonetheless, all evacuated families were permitted to return home by the evening of the same day and subsequently cleaned their residences before the relief center closed.
