Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha seeks management of new Anubhava Mantapa in Basavakalyan

The Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha (JLM) has requested the government of Karnataka to take full management of the Anubhava Mantapa, a new institution being constructed in Basavakalyan, Bidar district. During a meeting in Belagavi on September 20, the JLM's members and office-bearers unanimously adopted a resolution to this effect. The JLM, representing Basava-aligned seers and pro-Basava organizations, will be responsible for making decisions on the activities to be conducted at the Anubhava Mantapa, as well as what can or cannot be included within its premises.

The Anubhava Mantapa, under construction since the tenure of former chief minister Siddaramaiah, has already cost ₹400 crore and will require at least another ₹450 crore for completion. While officials claim the building will be finished by the end of March, JLM members believe this deadline is unlikely due to the lack of budget allocation. As such, the JLM has resolved to prevent the inauguration of an incomplete establishment and demand timely fund release and swift completion of the project.

The JLM claims that the Anubhava Mantapa, established in the 12th century, served as a venue for profound discussions by seers from across the country. National General Secretary S.M. Jamadar emphasized the importance of preserving the structure's sanctity and dignity, stating that its operation should mirror the continuous activities seen at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

To this end, a visit to the Golden Temple will be organized for all district presidents and office-bearers of the Global Lingayat Mahasabha, and a site visit to the Anubhava Mantapa construction site is also planned. N.S. Kempagowdar chaired the meeting, with M.V. Gongadashetti conducting proceedings and Basavaraj Rotti delivering the welcome address.
