Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threaten new targets, weapons if US attacks

TEHRAN, Sept 21 — Iran's Revolutionary Guards have issued a stern warning that they will target new locations and employ advanced weaponry if the United States initiates further aggression against Iran. The current clash between Tehran and Washington, now in its seventh month, has reached a standstill, with neither party eager to resume full-scale warfare.

A Revolutionary Guards spokesman announced that "significant changes" in their defense and counteroffensive strategies are imminent should the US launch an attack. "We will deploy new weapons with enhanced capabilities onto the battlefield, and the world will be taken aback," the spokesman declared. "Our targets may not remain consistent with those previously designated; we have new targets that have yet to face aggression."

The Guards also indicated readiness for a prolonged conflict. On Saturday, the central military command of Iran suggested the US was plotting new actions against Tehran, though details were not provided. Relations between the US and Iran have softened slightly in recent days following a minor clash near the end of last month, although Iran continues to carry out sporadic attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Both nations have established opposing blockades in the waterway to exert pressure. The conflict has also expanded into Yemen, where Iran-backed Houthi rebels have gained ground against the Saudi-backed government and launched assaults on Saudi objectives, including the capital Riyadh.
