Inspection of Semporna resort after intruder molests tourist

A Chinese tourist was allegedly molested at a resort in Semporna, triggering a response from Sabah tourism authorities. According to Reuters, state tourism, culture and environment minister Jafry Ariffin ordered an inspection of the resort's licensing and security measures. He instructed tourism authorities to coordinate with enforcement agencies to address any security gaps, emphasizing that operators are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of their guests.

The minister described the incident as "of utmost seriousness" and urged all parties to refrain from speculation while authorities conduct a thorough investigation. Police had already arrested a man after the 25-year-old tourist reported the incident at a resort on Jalan Kamiri, Semporna.
