If you’re not interested in alliance, just say so, Amirudin tells Melaka BN

Pakatan Harapan election chief Amirudin Shari has urged Barisan Nasional to clarify if the latter is open to forming an alliance for the upcoming Melaka state polls. Despite BN's reluctance to discuss the matter early, Amirudin stated that PH has no objections to an alliance, provided that BN makes its stance clear sooner rather than later. PH's preparations would be smoother if BN's decision was made known in advance.

Amirudin further questioned BN's fluctuating stance on cooperation, noting that the party had previously expressed a desire for independence before agreeing to collaborate with Perikatan Nasional and now considering talks with PH. This shifting position might be an attempt to deceive rivals and allies, Amirudin added.

The state's ruling coalition, Barisan Nasional, has tasked its Melaka chairman, Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh, with negotiating electoral cooperation with any party for the state election. BN's chairman, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, emphasized that the coalition's prospective partner must be "sincere and honest." Zahid also mentioned that formal negotiations would commence only after the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly, which is set to expire on December 31. Rauf had previously hinted at the possibility of dissolution this month.
