HK streaks to third mixed relay triathlon bronze

Hong Kong's mixed relay triathlon team claimed bronze at the Asian Games on Monday, extending their winning streak to three consecutive editions. The team, comprising Cade Wright, Oscar Coggins, Bailee Brown, and Robin Elg, finished with a time of one hour, 27 minutes and 25 seconds at the Gamagori City Triathlon Venue. This result placed Hong Kong just under a minute behind host nation Japan, who secured the gold medal.

The mixed relay event involves teams of four athletes – two men and two women – each completing a swim, bike, and run before passing the baton to the next teammate. Hong Kong's Wright initiated the race and was succeeded by Coggins, with the team initially placing fifth. Coggins moved up to fourth on the bike leg and then climbed to third during the run.

Brown held third place before dropping to fourth during the cycling segment but recovered to third place by the end of the run. Elg briefly slipped to fourth in the swim but fought back to anchor the team to third place, securing the bronze medal. This victory marks Hong Kong's third consecutive medal in the mixed relay triathlon at the Asian Games, with prior bronze medals earned in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018 and Hangzhou in 2023.
