HK streaks to third mixed relay triathlon bronze

Hong Kong's mixed relay triathlon team secured a bronze medal at the Asian Games on Monday, marking their third consecutive medal in the event. The team, comprising Cade Wright, Oscar Coggins, Bailee Brown, and Robin Elg, competed at the Gamagori City Triathlon Venue. Their finishing time of one hour, 27 minutes, and 25 seconds was just under a minute slower than the host country, Japan.

China's team emerged victorious, with a commanding lead, completing the race in an impressive one hour, 25 minutes, and 54 seconds. The mixed relay format consists of four athletes, comprising two men and two women. Each participant completes the swim, bike, and run legs before passing the baton to the next teammate.

Wright started the race for Hong Kong and transitioned to Coggins. The SAR team occupied fifth place at the finish of the swim leg. Coggins moved up to fourth on the bike and subsequently to third on the run. Brown held the third position during the cycling leg, only to slip to fourth before regaining third place by the end of the run. Elg, the anchor of the Hong Kong team, briefly dropped to fourth in the swim but fought back to secure the third-place position and the bronze medal.
